There are several reasons why you should get heater repair right away, the most important of which is that it’s good for your health. When people are exposed to cold temperatures, they risk getting hypothermia which is a dangerous illness. In hypothermia, the temperature of the body falls and the brain is affected. There are also other illnesses which can be caused by exposure to low temperature such as frostbite, chilblains and trenchfoot. But these can all be avoided by keeping your home well-heated. Here are some of the signs that you need to get your heat system repaired:
- Uneven Heating Throughout the Day: Maybe you have your heating system set to a certain temperature, but you end up feeling hot at certain times and cold at other times. This is a sign that your heating system is in need of repair. There’s no reason why you should be alternately hot and freezing. Instead, give your heating contractor a call.
- Uneven Heating in Different Rooms: Sometimes, your heat may stay on consistently throughout the day, but it might be uneven in different rooms. Certain rooms might be very warm while others are freezing. This could be due to a draft or due to some blockage. Consult your HVAC contractor for the best solution.
- No Thermostat: In many old homes, there are creaky radiators which can only be adjusted manually. You might turn the heating on high late at night when it’s cold only to wake up in the middle of the night to find that you are sweltering. Instead, it’s helpful to get a thermostat installed which will control the level of heat throughout the day. You just have to set the thermostat at a certain level and then forget about it. It will make sure that you are comfortable throughout the day.
