3 Signs That It’s Time to Replace Your Duct Work

When you think about having work done so that your HVAC unit can operate properly, you might think about having work done on the unit itself. However, in some cases, it might actually be your duct work that needs to be repaired or replaced. These are a few potential signs that it might be time for you to replace your duct work.

3 Signs That It's Time to Replace Your Duct Work

1. Your Duct Work is Old

If your duct work has been in place for 15 or 20 years and has never been replaced, it’s a good idea to have it looked at by a professional. Older ductwork can collapse, become home to pests and otherwise experience issues, so having it looked at can help you catch any potential problems and determine if it’s time to replace it yet.

2. You Have Hot or Cold Spots in Your Home

Even though you can obviously expect the area right around your HVAC vents to be warmer or cooler than the rest of the home, you should not notice that entire rooms are at completely different temperatures from the rest of the house. If this is the case, there could be a ductwork issue.

3. Your Air Quality is Suffering

Have you found that your home is dusty or filled with allergens? Are you dealing with allergy symptoms but don’t know why? If so, this could be caused by dirty ducts, or your ducts could be damaged and could be letting in outside debris.

As you can see, there are a few signs that you can look for when determining whether or not it’s time to replace your ductwork. If any of these three things seem familiar, contact us at Texas Air Tech so that we can come out and take a look. Call us today at Texas Air Tech!
